You are quite the contrarian. Most people's inner devils tell them to stop trying to achieve a difficult goals while their inner angels tell them they can do it. I hope your therapist knows that your inner angel and devil have had some sort of Freaky Friday event. ;-)

I've been told by a few people ,who know me well enough, that I am

" complicated "....and going by my "inner dialog " I have to agree. Lol. No simple definition box really fits if you're wired to explore and expand into this magical world....the ying/yang symbol comes close for me.

What a weekend--I’m alternately admiring and alarmed by your tenacity. I wish you could be your own biggest cheerleader instead of critic. Paradoxically sometimes athletes do better and feel better when they care a little less about the challenge and ease off the self-pressure. I can really relate however to how you describe objectively realizing you should feel and think one way, but your emotions and thoughts go in the opposite direction. You are an amazing adventurer. What 100M are you doing in March?
