Jill, the hospice should have people on call even on holidays. Call them and tell them Betsy needs help. I've been thru this and the biggest lesson I learned was to lean on the hospice people for help, it's what they are there for.
So sorry you are going thru this, there are really no words that can comfort.
I remember that feeling of powerlessness when someone you love is suddenly hit by such pain and it's a public holiday and no one is around to ask for help. Your writing about it makes others feel less alone though.

Keep writing, keep loving, keep living, and thank you so much for the hard work of sharing it.

That was a beautiful read. I am thinking of Betsy and you both. Hugs.
You are a good friend. It's so sad to see someone suffering but you are doing the right thing by just being there.
Wow. Very deep and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️
You write so beautifully Jill. I had tears in my eyes reading this. So difficult, I’m so sorry your friend is in so much pain. 😔
I am so glad that you are there for Betsy, just to hold her hand in her suffering is a lot.
I'm sorry. I recently spent 2.5 weeks in hospital with my dad as he slowly died - in palliative care. It was extremely tough. Changed me forever.
